Alliance Breaks Ground on T.C. Cherry Elementary School in Bowling Green, KY

GLASGOW, KY - On Tuesday, May 27, 2008 Alliance Corporation and Bowling Green Independent Schools broke ground on the new T. C. Cherry Elementary School. The facility becomes the third new school and the fifth project overall that Alliance Corporation has served as Construction Manager. Alliance Corporation President and CEO Tommy Gumm commented, “Alliance treasures our partnership with Bowling Green Independent Schools and is pleased to be working on another wonderful project.”

The new school will be located adjacent to the current school. Students and staff will remain in the original building during the next school year while construction continues. The new T.C. Cherry Elementary will be open for the 2009-2010 school year.

Ross-Tarrant Architects designed the new 55,000 sq. ft. facility. The brick building will feature a cafeteria, gym and offices near the front of the facility, with two classroom wings towards the rear of the building. The exterior will feature tall windows for the cafeteria and classrooms to utilize natural lighting. The estimated cost of construction for the new school is $10,652,409.

The original and current T. C. Cherry was constructed and occupied in 1950, serving grades 1 – 8. The building was named for the district’s third superintendent, Mr. T. C. Cherry. The current school serves grades K-5 and approximately 275 students.
