Downtown Bowling Green is one step closer to a new minor league
ballpark. A groundbreaking ceremony was held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4th
at the corner of 8th Avenue and Kentucky Street.
This Single A ballpark will serve as an anchor for a $250 million downtown
redevelopment plan in Bowling Green, Ken. The Columbus (Ga.) Catfish of the
Class A South Atlantic League are expected to relocate to Bowling Green to start
play in 2009.
The signature element of DLR Group’s design is a private club for 150 fans on
the suite level directly behind home plate. To accommodate this private club,
the press box has been relocated along the third base line. Bowling Green’s new
ballpark will offer a variety of seating types for more than 5,000 fans, with
4,000 fixed seats in the bowl.
The project team includes Alliance Corporation, construction manager and DLR
Group, architect/engineer.
