Bowling Green Ball Park
Open for Business

After only nine months for construction, the Bowling Green Hot Rods played their first home game in the new Bowling Green Ball Park on April 17, 2009. Alliance Corporation served as the Construction Manager for the ballpark, which was on a fast track schedule for completion. Bowling Green Ball Park will serve as an anchor for the downtown redevelopment plan in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Over 6,000 fans attended opening night festivities.

The signature element of the design is a private club for 150 fans on the suite level directly behind home plate. To accommodate this private club, the press box was located along the third base line. Bowling Green’s new ballpark offers a variety of seating types.

The project team included Alliance Corporation as Construction Manager and DLR Group acting as Architect.

Established in 1975, Alliance Corporation has compiled an impressive project portfolio. Services cover the spectrum with pre-construction and construction services for general contracting, design-build, construction management and site feasibility studies.

Senior Management Achieve LEED AP Status

Alliance Corporation announces four division managers have achieved the status of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP).

· Brandon Akers, Executive Vice-President, General Contracting, Graduate of Eastern Kentucky University

· Terry Harvey, Executive Vice-President, Design / Build.

· Tim Geegan, Vice-President, Construction Management, Graduate of Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Michigan

· Matt Gumm, Vice-President, Estimating, Graduate of Eastern Kentucky University

In order to become a LEED AP, Akers, Geegan, Gumm, Harvey and Rich completed extensive training and passed an exam evaluating their understanding of green building practices, principles and the LEED rating system.

“The increasing demand for green building projects increases the need for LEED certified professionals,” said Alliance Corporation president and CEO Tommy Gumm. “This along with our involvement in the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) demonstrates both our commitment to the environment and to the quality of our work.”

In 2008, the Kentucky General Assembly passed House Bill 2, the Energy Bill. In the legislation, it created a High-performance Buildings Advisory Committee. Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear assigned Brandon Akers to the committee that will create the High Performance Building Standards for Kentucky. Alliance Corporation applauds the Kentucky General Assembly and Governor Beshear for their commitment to green building practices.

The LEED Green Building Rating System promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.

With the addition of Akers, Geegan, Gumm, Harvey and Rich, this brings Alliance Corporation’s total of LEED Accredited Professionals to nine.

Established in 1975, Alliance Corporation has compiled an impressive project portfolio and covers the spectrum with pre-construction and construction services for general contracting, design-build, construction management and site feasibility studies.
